50 West 66th Street
Snohetta's first US residential tower, and the tallest building on the Upper West Side.
50 West 66th Street is a new luxury condominium developed by Extell Development Company and designed by Snohetta, the firm's first residential tower in the United States. Rising 69 stories and about 775 feet near Lincoln Center, it surpassed nearby 200 Amsterdam to become the tallest building on the Upper West Side, with 127 residences.
The building
Snohetta clad the base in limestone and burnished bronze, shifting to glass with bronze chamfers above the sixteenth floor, with setbacks, private loggias, and chamfered corners that give the tower its sculpted profile. Residences come in two collections: The House, designed by Shamir Shah Design with warm materials and prewar proportions, and The Tower, designed by AB Concept with soaring ceilings and glass walls. Layouts run from two to six bedrooms. The story of 50 West 66th Street
Developed by Extell, the project brought Snohetta, the Norwegian firm behind landmarks such as the Oslo Opera House, to residential design in the United States for the first time. Its height made it the subject of years of attention as it rose to become the tallest tower on the Upper West Side, a modern counterpoint to the prewar co-ops that define the neighborhood.Amenities
The building offers more than 50,000 square feet of amenities, including an indoor saltwater lap pool and spa, a fitness center with Pilates and training studios, a full basketball and pickleball court, a squash court, a bowling alley, a golf simulator, a screening room, infrared sauna and steam rooms, a gaming lounge, and a playroom. A twentieth-floor level adds an outdoor saltwater pool and spa, a sundeck, a skyline lounge and sunset bar, and a club room, with lifestyle concierge service throughout. The neighborhood
50 West 66th Street sits near Lincoln Center and Central Park, at the southern end of the Upper West Side. The Upper West Side is a prewar, co-op-heavy market, which makes a new full-service condominium like this a flexible alternative for buyers who want amenities and turnkey living.
